9/19/17 Physics Teachers Enhancement Program (PTEP). The Schools Division of Negros Oriental with the cooperation of the Phiippine Physics Society and Maxino College has run the Physics Teachers Enhancement Progam (PTEP) designed as a capabiity building activity to enable physics teachers in senior high specially to design and consruct laboratory apparatus.  The workshop has been going on for five Saturdays and will end on September 23, 2017 with demonstrations of the 33 participants on the apparatus they have designed.  Previously, with the help of resource persons from Maxino College, the participants constructed and performed experiments on four pieces of apparatus.

After the workshop of this group, the Philippine Physics Soceity and Maxino College will look for new partners to hold similar programs.

10/4/13: A new model for tensiometer was recently exhibited at a regional fair for inventions by Jonel Noblesala, BS Physics IV of Maxino College, who qualified as finalist. The device is a recent model of the optico-capillary method of measuring surface tension which was conceived by Dr. Geardo Maxino way back in 1976. The concept has seen an evolution of implementations, the most recent one being the foldable model designed by Jonel. The deviced is inexpensive and accurate, as shown by tests. The imported model which works with a ring dipped into the liquid and pulled up by putting weights on a lever arm costs thousands of pesos. Models of the optico-capillary method of measuring surface tension will be displayed during the 36th Annual National Physics Convention on April 2-5, 2014 at Maxino College, Bagacay, Dumaguete City.
9/1/13: Prof. Vicente (Vince) Simplicio Villegas of Samar State University, Catbalogan City, (western) Samar passed away a few weeks ago. He was a very active member of the PPS. He was Convention Director in 2003. He was a very dedicated and committed teacher, doing his utmost to improve physics education in the Philippines. Please pray for him.
